T amps like that tend to be very efficient, so power consumption is comparatively lower than a regular class b amp and much lower than class a.

There goes my excuse to not buy one.

It says tape monitor. What is that?
-
• #3558
It says it's a receiver (not in @Apone post, i mean on the front of the unit), which means there is an amp in there.
So i'm guessing that it has inputs on the back for a tape deck and a turntable, by the look of it.

What's a tape deck?

Look for an HK twin powered unit, 730 or 430, reasonably priced and awesome sound, for dinosaurs like me they also have terrific radio reception.
Not high powered though, so make sure the speakers are up to the job. -

Nice thanks for the recomendaion will keep an eye out, so far have seen a battered old jvc jrs reciver and a yamhaa rx397, couldnt test them so left them.

I have one of these : ebay.co.uk/itm/311693323794
Very good, as long as your speakers are sensitive enough.
Had a look around for t-class amps and it seems to be a bit hit and miss? Anyone know if this is decent? I like the idea of built in Bluetooth

No experience of those ones. I like the basic ones as there is little to screw up...

I've just got a Topping TP22 for the bedroom. Chose it because it was their simplest one with a power switch on the front.
Also have an Indeed Labs TA2021 which I think is a nicer amp, but that could be down to the speakers I paired it with being better.

Can we discuss car stereos in here, or is that in the car thread?

Are USB dacs any good? Swapped my main computer from a Mac to a Pc and the sound quality is freaking horrible in comparison and you can't really do anything to improve it. Tried different software but the output is still incredibly flat and weak. Planning on getting a DAC (http://www.audioquest.com/dragonfly-series/) and connect to something like this headphone amplifier so bypass the built in sound card completely and get some more control. https://en.intos.de/product-overview/input-output/headphone-amplifier/8966/inline-ampeq-headphone-amplifier-equalizer-3.5mm-jack-usb-powered

I use a JDS Labs Odac to connect the PS4 to the stereo. It's very very good at what it does.
Also used it to connect the laptop to stereo to listen to some hi Rez stuff but I can't hear the difference beyond 320kbps

I think we're reading the same pages, I was looking at Tamps and DACs just now...
