  • I had most of the bits in the cellar .... getting the frame fixed after RTA was biggest outlay of the rebuild

  • I have ridden with oval / Qrings for years in TTs & triathlon. Seemed a backward step to go round. I got more for the claims around efficiency looking for sustained ave power rather than anything else

  • I think the point was that with fixed Oval chainrings aren't a good choice because of the chain tension issue

  • Arh ok ...... i did a bit of looking into this , spoke with Rotor as well as a few Fixie LBS & decided as I had the Qrings to go with it . There is a arguement that chain tension isnt constant which i agree with although this can be minimised with correct tension (like a sweet spot if you will) So far so good. No throwing chains as yet. If it did begin to cause an issue then a tensioner would rectify that.

  • It's a singlespeed rather than fixed, right?

  • Yes it is single rather fixed.

  • fixed Oval chainrings aren't a good choice because of the chain tension issue

It's not an issue. The chain is wrapped pretty close to half way around the ring all the time, so the actual variation in effective chain length is tiny, often no more than the variation caused by eccentricity of "round" rings.

  • lol @ Qrings being advanced.

  • I've got a creak in my pf30 fsa bottom bracket.

I will strip and re fit soon, but if it carries on does anyone recommend anything? Nothing too flash as I don't have much cash to splash!!

  • Agree with others that it's a bit bizzare but I really, really can't stop myself from liking it.

  • And for the sceptics / traditionalists / analists etc ...... i didn't build your bike , i did mine..... it was part of the process of getting my head together from the RTA ..... it will do me for TTs , track , triathlons & even just getting out and about up a few hills (not that you have many of them down London way) .... no offence meant ;)

  • I've got some clips & extensions you're welcome to and a friend has some brake levers, if you can sort out a base bar.

  • This. Let the silly start. Hi.

  • Gonna take the 44rn off this (for my spicer when it arrives, hopefully soon) ans replace with the full face custom chainring I have, been trying to work out a nice position on this Cannondale but think I'm gonna go with shallower drops.

Seatpost is the stock kingbury USA seatpost that the bike was specked with, and I'm really digging yellow tape.
