Photography challenge book, zine, exhibition discussions

A place to explore these ideas off the photography challenge thread

I like this idea a lot.

One challenge would be getting original resolution images suitable for print... Some originals will no-doubt have been lost so having flexibility with sizes would be necessary.

• At an exhibition people could vote for best picture of the year? Choosing from the weekly winners and other memorable contributions. Some weeks there have been many great entries

• @mi7rennie - could you update the original post?

I'm thinking a book might be good so we can do high quality prints. Print the winner large and maybe the 2nd and 3rd place images smaller. Or Maybe a full page print for the winner and on the other side of the spine all the weeks entries?

That could work....

The number of entries would change the layout though – some weeks there are 6, others there are 22.

The way I handle that in personal albums is to just use a random collage to suit the number of photos and aspect ratio and basically scale to suit.

So maybe left page could have the winner and over leaf could have a random collage of the rest.

Or left page could have the winner and runners up, then a collage on the other side.

in to this idea.

Meanwhile we could ask @lew_redd from lmnh if he'd be up to host an exhibition of some prints. Perhaps winners only. Or wait to launch the book there

What about a book/exhibition including photos that we post in both threads that are not involved with the challenge. They could be shortlisted b others or something else?

That would be fun too. I love seeing the work of all the forum photographers!
