• Anyone got or tried a pair of B&O BeoPlay H8s? I was killing time in WHSmith the other day waiting for a train and they had a demo pair - unfortunately not plugged in so I couldn't hear audio quality but was blown away by build quality. Felt so nicely made compared to anything else I've come across.

I had a pair of Sony MDR 7520s that I bought a few years ago but the arm on one ear cracked with 3 months and I wasn't able to track down a replacement part. The company I bought them from accepted no responsibility so I've basically been using my iPhone buds since then or nothing at all. Figure it's time for something nice. No longer need something work-horsey for studio listening. I'd like on-ear I can enjoy around the house and on the go. I like the idea that the H8s have a microphone so I can make calls. Stunned by the build quality but in fairness haven't compared them to much else. However I've read reviews online saying their bluetooth keeps dropping out and the audio quality isn't much to write home about - especially for 400 quid. Which seems fair enough.

Any one with any experience? Or similar options to suggest in their stead? (On-ear, top end build and materials, bluetooth not essential but desirable, noise cancelling not essential, good battery life).

  • I've got some of the H6's and they're brilliant. The H8's are more expensive so should be even better, right?
