The blue trails are far more flowy, smoother, and don't necessitate getting big air. They are definitely manageable on a decent hard tail.
Hope so, as that's what I'd mostly be doing.
Unless I go mad and decide to hire something..

I'm not as familiar with South Wales, but I've found it's always a gamble on the weather when visiting Wales - but it's worth it rain or shine.

Yea - danger in Jan is that you get really cold and really wet which can be a bit of a killer.

Having a downhill bike for BPW is going in well over biked. You could maybe justify it on Fifty Shades of Black.
Your Talbot with front bounce on will be fine for attacking the blues and the reds. -

I might even remove the rack.
But how will you carry Tom's pump?
-

Much as I <3 my Talbot, I'm very tempted to try one of these while we're there.

These are second on my wish list after Juliana. Such nice bikes, I love what Trek have been doing over the last couple of years.

Not sure if excited or terrified..

Excited & terrified = best possible buzz.
These are snippets of mostly red and black trails. Blues like Willy Waver, Melted Welly, Terry's Belly, etc, are smoother and don't have unavoidable drops and stuff.

Can't wait to ride here again.
Anybody down for wild camping? Also I'll likely drive up and have a few spaces going in the car.
-
• #44
My wild camping days are over!
there's some nice cottages around the reservoir in ponticill that I'll try and bag - cheap and cozy with log fires.

How does the second weekend of April sound? 8th & 9th.
-
• #46
Wild camping is appealing. We'll probably be sleeping in the van
Renting out a whole cottage with a fire though... That would be ace
-
• #47
Nobody riding through the night then...
-
• #48
Same here, once I complete bed install!
Know of any cottages local?
-
• #49
Do want.

Or even an under-forked one with far too low a front end; I did all the red and blue trails on a Ragley Marley with ~120mm travel. Quite fancy retrying everything on my 29er.
