  • Yeah had forgot it's proper name. Mistyped above, whilst it was tasty it doesn't work well amongst other beers for me so i couldn't have had a half or pint. The zing of the chilli was good. A bottle with a v.hot curry & chilli naan would be fun.

  • Oof, yeah, I wouldn't want a whole pint or to mix it with other random beers.

  • It's odd as in my twenties and early thirties they wouldn't have lasted a week in the house, now I can take it or leave it and enjoy them when the occasion is right.

Was chatting in the pub about how I used to go drink pints by numbers, start strongest then descending strength. Madness and always messy, on reflection rarely fun. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

  • oo I've got one of them in the fridge, looking forward to it

  • ^seconded

  • Onto the list it goes!

  • Just got in the office to find one of the partners has bought me a 6 pack of Brew by Numbers as a thank you for helping her out on something this year, bonza!

  • Got sent a 6 pack of ales from a customer but rules are all such gifts are pooled and raffled.

Secret Santa compensated with Greene King 4 craft bottles, inc a Double Hop IPA & an oak aged dark ale.

  • Amazing beer! I wish they had in bottles!

  • Might cross post this on the Peak District thread later but...

Any pub recommendations around Longshaw Estate/Hathersage on Boxing Day (beer and chips, doesn't need to be full food)? Have car so further east is fine but ideally west towards Macc would be good

    @rhb @Landslide or anyone else...

  • Not hit up pubs out that way, ate at Hathersage pool cafe which was ok. Castleton end, Ye Olde Nags Head is my fave. The big pub in Chinley is good for grub too.

  • I don't tend to hit the pubs out there much either, but for Hathersage I'd probably head to the Little John, or the Cheshire Cheese in Hope.

  • Cheers both, will check them out/suggest those options. If we end up elsewhere I'll report back :)

  • Redwillow Perceptionless is v.nice, 6.6%.

Should be switching to the dark & strong ones but got this plus 'Pogo' and then will be back on track with 'Fade to Black'.

    All cans.

  • I picked up a few interesting beers for the holidays. This is from Japan.

  • Found the Theatre of Wine wineshop in Greenwich now stocks all the trappists as well as loads of UK stuff. And the staff were breaking out champagne for anyone queuing and appeared to be well on the way to being fucked. Well played!

  • Magic Rock House of Mirrors
Kernel IPA Mosaic both good. Couple of cask only guys walked in and straight out as only one cask option.

    Now onto the darker ones...

  • Got some Northern Monk Eternal IPA and Vocation Pride and Joy in the fridge. Happy days!

  • Picked up one of the Cloudwater white wine barrel aged champagne beers today for Christmas dinner.

  • Two down, five to go. V happy.
