Hell yeah! (if you aren't riding in urban environment, but doing 90% country miles).

Anyone tried Grand Prix Classic ?
-
• #3904
Yes in 25s but not much tread in the centre.

Recommend?

They work fine, as long it's cheap enough.
They're not bad per se, just you can get better for similar amount.

For 20 quid yes ok . But durano are tuffer .

is there a commuter friendly tubeless tyre? 30 - 35C?
G-One might be an option but it looks unduly knobbly for a tyre that will be purely for road use.
anything else spring to mind?

Schwalbe website tells me that marathon supreme in 35c are tubeless ready.
ok, I'm gonna do this.

Best 26" touring tyre? Will be for mixed surfaces around Scotland next year.
Is the cost of Compass justified? The bike in question currently has big bens which seem ok but thought I'd ask. -
• #3911
Compass are indeed amazing tyres, but with 26" wheels, it's hard to go wrong with panaracer pasela for a good combination of comfort, grip and puncture resistance.
TBH, big bens are plentiful.

Maxxis do the re-fuse in tubeless ready in both 32 and 40c

Thanks Ed, Lizzie's bike is mostly for winter commuting so will stick with the Bens and use that money towards luggage instead.
I might pop on some 700c Bon Jons for my lht tho if budget allows once everything else is sorted. -
• #3914
that's an interesting option - thanks

That's a better option, the Big Ben is pretty comfortable without being overly harsh and heavy like the Marathon Plus, I personally think marathon plus way too overkill unless you're going through the Road of Bones.

Tire of the year is Strada Bianca 30c @50psi
Taking me on 50 gravel-included commutes and longer rides, with only 1 puncture en total.

Tyre size help please. I want to be a cheapskate and use my inappropriate bike for the odd road duathlon, which involves getting as much speed as possible out of my WTB Frequency I-19 disc brake wheelset. Which tyre size for optimum aero/speed on internal width of 19mm? 25? 28? (One of each?!) Also a good recommendation for a light, fast rolling clincher of said size without breaking the bank. I was thinking Schwalbe One?

50 commutes in 3 days is impressive

Specialized outside the UK do a 32c Roubaix Pro 2Bliss, also with gum walls
Bike24 have them 40 Euro
-
• #3921
This may be unobtanium for a variety of reasons but: 650c clincher gumwalls/skinwalls. Do they exist?

Of course.. Conti Grand Prix.. Best deal, however not gumwall, is the Rubino Pro G+ from Rose (~20 EURO): https://www.rosebikes.de/artikel/vittoria-rubino-pro-grapheneplus-rennradreifen/aid:867094

Huh. I've heard these exist (as well as some Panaracers, back in the day) but haven't been able to track them down online. Do you happen to have a link?

I'm surprized.. Just checked it seems that the 650c GPs are these days only in black-- back when they had brown sidewalls everyone seemed to cry for black and now.. But the Panaracer you mentioned still seems around.. 18 EUROs from Berlin: http://sella-berolinum.de/shop-teile/reifen-zubehoer/650c-571mm-reifen/2434/panaracer-pasela-650x-25c-schwarz/-beigewand (NOTE: it is an old school wire rim and not folding tyre!)

Huh, wonder if they'd ship to the U.S.
Thank you very much, regardless.
For over winter too?
