Sorry I didn't reply previously. Sounds like you had a horrible break in.
Laptop wise i would defo go MacBook over any air, great little machines for simple work. Don't feel bad about insurance companies either, push for a too end 2016, the price difference isn't your fault! -

By 'new' do you mean CC or have they done something else?
-
• #10507
Yes. I don't like the subscription model. My use is too sporadic and I don't make money with it really.

Suck it up and buy it! Having gone through a range of usb C adapters it's far and away the best solution as it's all in one hdmi, USB B, Ethernet...

Ah for some reason I was expecting it to look more like a multi port like the one above. Thanks both

That's got me thinking, is there such a thing as a Thunderbolt > HDMI cable... I'm using my Apple TV over our wireless network to mirror the football off my MBP... At times, it's a bit shit...

I was sure there was an official mini-display port to hdmi adapter out there as I almost bought one, but can't seem to find it now. Lots of third party ones about though.

Hang on, I think I remember buying one ages ago but had no joy getting the sound to work, that's why I had to get the Apple TV...
Oh well...

I have a thunderbolt to HDMI adapter I bought from one of the dodgy phone shops in Dalston for a tenner. It works fine but sometimes the scaling is a bit weird.

Mac cunts
Trying to migrate iMac to new MacBook Pro. But the iMac won't recognise the USB to USB c cable.
So the only option is 20 hours via wifi, but if the wifi glitches the whole transfer aborts.
It appears there is no way of doing this easily. Am quite fucked off as I have had to buy a fuck ton of new cables - USB c to USB converter USB c to multi port, extension hdmi cable, hdmi to vga converter and the USB c to USB which i only bought for the fucking migration but which won't work.
I can't imagine I will be the first mac user to suffer this frustration. At this rate I will take the new laptop and the Mac mini to the apple store and tell them to fucking sort it out.

What are you trying to migrate? Do you have an external hdd?

Old iMac to new MacBook Pro.
-
• #10521
Yeah but what are you actually trying to save?
-
• #10522
All my settings, data and crap.
iTunes etc.
-
• #10523
If you have an external hard drive you can backup to that then migrate that to the MacBook.
-
• #10524
One of the best things of getting a new computer is the fresh start. Shove your photos on an external hdd and enjoy the lack of clutter. Any programs you need can be redownloaded.

My external HD died a while ago.
Thanks a lot. If only they'd do a "layout" or what ever an indesign equivalent would be called...
