  • I don't think it has been specifically stated that you can't use bank transfer, although it would be the same as using PayPal gift, as you are basically just giving someone money and they can keep it without having to send you the goods. Their bank isn't going to intervene if you make a claim on not receiving an item.

  • We're all in agreement that bank transfers and paypal gift payments can have the same outcome if the seller flounces. The difference is that one is specifically prohibited and the other isn't.

    The rules are pretty plain. If @Velocio wanted to ban bank transfers, I'm pretty certain he would've made an explicit rule against them.

  • I guess the point is it can't be policed even if it was. As long as the seller also has the option of PayPal buyer protection, then it is up to the buyer whether they want to run the risk of not using it. The thing is, as it's been stated on here before, is that even if the seller is trustworthy, something could happen to them and you would have no way of getting your money back.
