New Herne Hill Pavilion = getting close to done.
Fundraising for what goes inside = just about to begin!
First up: A top of the range commercial coffee machine for the Velodrome
Supplied by Volcano and paid for by………..
https://twitter.com/AzeusConvene
Who are they you say?
Well it’s an Ap from a company that a HH Volunteer works for
And if we can get 1500 new followers for them on Twitter they’ll pay for the machine (worth around £7000 would you believe!)
So what are you waiting for?
Spread this, follow them, get top coffee to the Track on Saturdays...and other times! -

If in doubt, if you hear someone shouting, just don't move. Easy.
Best advice so far really, I was watching the intermediate yesterday and it was a chaos of noises, shouting, muttering, chatting at every rotation.
Best for me to block out all the noise.

Does anyone know if training is running this weekend?

Which suggests that Saturday is on as normal, but, unsurprisingly, there are no sessions on Sunday.

Want to get myself training and hopefully racing but there appears to be only 1 'Training Accreditation' session in the calendar and on RiderHQ, 4 Feb. Expect more to come?
-
• #3759
There will be more all year, it's still winter schedule. Once it warms up a bit there will be plenty of opportunities to get accredited.

Thanks, great to know.
As I can't make the accreditation on the 4th, I would assume that the Track Skills Sessions are worth going to in advance of doing the accreditation.

Track skills sessions are definitely worth it
-

I would do at least 3-4 track skills sessions before accreditation. One) for your own skills but also two) to cement safe riding habits so when you're in a group at 43kph you can make sure every rider around you is safe.

Track Skills is beginners right? I'd get a few under your belt before doing the accreditation and moving up to Intermediates, for one you may fail the accreditation but also if you pass and cause a crash in Intermediates from moving without looking or slowing before pulling up the track or whatever then I will be incredibly annoyed.

Totally agree with the sentiment.
I've now done 3 half day training sessions with my club doing drills and races. Should have another coming up soon. I'll see how the first Tracks skills session plays out and go from there, there isn't a massive rush. I'm sure there are a few road race habits to iron out.

Yeah my comment is not necessarily about coming down hard on you but I think more that other people on here thinking of getting on the track see that safe riding is paramount.

I went through the process just before Christmas so this might be useful...
In order to pass the accreditaiton you have to do a 4 set drills. Even if you're a competent rider it's good to go to the basic skills session to learn what these are - you might already do but it's good to have them fresh! They also don't cover all the drills in each training session, so it's good to go to a few.
Not all the acccreditations are put up on Rider HQ at once- march will appear soon to register don't worry :)

Thanks, I assume the novice Skill sessions are first come first served?

Track League usually starts on the first Wednesday of April.

I think they usually fit as many people on as possible - I was never turned away and there's been a lot of riders on the track.
The accreditation sessions can sell out pretty quickly though!
-
• #3771
Yeah, aim to get there 30 mins early. They can get busy and there is a limit to how many people can be on the track.
They're probably not going to fill up at this time of year though.

Summer Saturdays start this weekend at the track! All of our public track sessions will move back by 1 hour from this Saturday, March 4th, until the autumn. The new schedule is:
09:00-10:00 - Youth Track Training
10:00-12:00 - Intermediate Training
12:00-13:00 - Track Skills SessionWeekly track inductions will also return from this weekend, every Saturday from 13:00-14:30. However, they now need to be booked in advance, and there will be no on the day entries. You can book your place here https://www.riderhq.com/o/428/herne-hill-velodrome/enter

Anyone heading down today? I need to shake my hangover

Bit embarrassing as the coach pulled me off. Not a euph... My BB makes a funny clicking noise and they were worried it was a crank or pedal about to come off.
I went off, got tools and took crank off and back on but still there. Its a miche bb and forgot they are different to the shimano ones so will try next week.
I chatted to the coaches and they were cool and have to put safety first.

To be honest, you'd be glad they did it if it were someone else, riding in front of you. Really disconcerting when there's unhealthy sounds beyond the odd grunt. At least you weren't pulled off for riding like a fucking idiot.
"Stay" is generally the key, if you're high = stay up to the fence, low = stay down on the white. You shouldn't be floundering in the middle leaving people behind guessing where you're going.
