Oak, the carbon conversion feel springy but no more faster, actually did my PB on the Oak because it work with me so well compare to a stiff carbon frame that made me work harder (thus feeling like I'm going faster).

When you flex the frame at every pedal stroke. The frame (bb area) spring back, thus in sync with you're pedalling (if that make sense).
A stiff frame doesn't, it give the feeling of quick acceleration due to lack of flex but wear you out more if you don't work with it.

hey,
this is my bike i work with.
it is a germans cycles cx frame i changed to accept disc brakes with an ordinary low cost carbon/aluminium fork.
not realy custom frame. sad but true - germans cycles is not longer existing, but the website is still availeble:
