Skipped it last year as was getting used to daily commuting. Was tempted to do it by visiting family round the country but now thinking I should up the anti and smash it all in one go (or at least 2x250km on consecutive days) by the 28th.
Anyone Fenland way wanting to knock out some miles, hit me up.

Saw a guy out today in his Festive 500 top, looked fairly decent tbf.
I'll do my usual 150 miles and consider it a job well done.
-
• #1631
Hmmmm, Fenland way, yes. But I'm away with the folks until lunchishtime on the 27th.

Me and @amey are doing a trip to Blue Egg Cafe on Christmas Eve. Long, slow, flat miles to kick off #Festive500. Anyone welcome.

Planned return time? Might come some of the way before turning back. I need to be home by 1ish.
-
• #1635
nah thats too early, I think we will start pedalling at 7am from deepest SE london, 45 mins-ish to ice rink perhaps? Its most great escape minus a few bits.
Turn around Harlow-ish?
-
• #1636
Yeah. Keen then. Can catch you at the Ice Rink.
-
• #1637
Perfect, I'll PM mine and Sparky's number.

• #1638
Blue Egg = overrated and prices that even LMNH would balk at
-
• #1639
ikr! Whats a 'destination' cafe in essex otherwise? Not sure if any of the tea rooms will be open on christmas eve .. its either that or pork sandwich at Hot Gossip in Henley.
-
• #1640
Is it even open? I tried to go to the Blue Egg on the 28th last F500, only to discover it was closed. 170km, and all I ate all day was a chicken and mushroom slice from the Co-Op in the village.

• #1642
Well yes but no.

Give bicicletta in Saffron Walden a go...Good vibes and nice lunch options and cakes. Went there last year on Christmas eve and it was a welcome stop. Closes early this time of year so worth getting in earlier.
