Yes, it would be a real shame to mess up the original paint job, just it would fit me spot on as 54cm square.
I have a this Donohue that is ok with a bit of stack though, so the Raleigh really needs to go I guess :(
Your Scapin is lovely! An inspiration on how to build up the Raleigh for sure.

I did that to a Peugeot frame (columbus Nemo tubing). It had a 1' head tube and not it has a 1' 1/8 tube. I also replaced the toptube that was damaged (two holes made by the previous owner. Can't know why he did that!!!).
But jogger, I only changed the headtube because of the damaged toptube. That raleigh frame has a great paintjob. I know it's hard to find a 1' good fork and it's much easier to find a 1' 1/8 one. I have my scapin with a Easton full carbon 1' fork and with a shim to convert to 1' 1/8 and it works just fine.
If you can find a 1' fork please keep the frame how it is ;)
That frame is awesome and with the right components can become a PORN bike :)
