I'm a sucker for a gadget and as my GF and I are buying new living room furniture in lieu of chrimbo presents this year I decided to treat myself to the ONA o.c.d v2 to try and improve my shot consistency as I still get some horrific channeling sometimes and as I tend to make coffee when I only have time to make it once I end up drinking some terrible coffees first thing before work.
It arrived yesterday but was too busy to use it until today. it's definitely about 3x more expensive than it should be but after I figured out how to adjust it (apparently all that money is not enough to include any instructions at all) and realised you twist counter clockwise THEN clockwise to flatten the final lumps it actually works really well. in fact after my first shot I had to reduce the dose by a few .1g and step the grinder back a notch to get the shot time back into the 22-32 second mark.
made 3 coffees so far and each has come out near perfect.
my one regret is I didn't check to see if they had the v1 before I ordered the v2 as that would have been just as adequate for my needs and looks a bit better imo and would have saved me €50. lives and learns. Now I'm contracting I'll be working from home a lot more so eventually the investment will bear out on buying coffees from coffee shops even if it takes a good few months.
