I didn't ask Mr Colnago , but spoke to his son Alex and right had
Laura , the company does not intend to develop new model steel bikes ,
nor make any more pistas , they can still do masters in Mapei decor
and arabesque re launch my own personal feeling is that the brand
should embrace developing and producing steel frame sets againI came across this interesting piece on Battaglin abandoning carbon and going back to making steel framesets. http://www.handbuiltbicyclenews.com/c26-frame-builders/227-battaglin-to-focus-on-steel-and-phase-out-carbon-fiber-frames
It's probably too late for Colnago to do likewise. Its a pity really because i reckon 21st century steel Colnagos would be highly desirable.

Looks nuovo Mexico to me mate. Nice, I like the colour. What've you got planned for that little beauty?

nuovo mexico

You think Nuovo? According to Saarf's website Nuovo Mexico doesn't have the crimped chainstay and comes with 4 crimps in the downtube. But I like the frame anyway and I have enough parts to build it with a mixed NR/SR group and wheels.
Edit: first owner (who sold it to the guy I bought it from) says it's a 1982 Mexico. That matches with photos I found on the net.

Sorry you're right yes. Nuovo doesn't have crimped chainstays and yes 4 crimps in downtube. Rookie error

Guess Super profil it is then. Lovely find all the same. You don't see one of those every day.

Been a busy winter offloading a few bikes to help put a couple more together. Sort of ever decreasing circles.
Master Krono nearly finished, just a few more bits to fit. Spend ages looking for an original Gipiemme top mount lever boss but then eventually found one, now on its way. 1st gen c Rec bits came from a donor master I bought, they're pretty clean. Alloy BB fixed cup came out fairly unscathed which was a bonus.
Keeping with the mavic theme stem and bars will be mavic and some carefully removed Colnago bar tape and c-Rec levers.
Going to take the deltas back off as they're later 5 pivot and fit the earlier 3 pivot 2nd gen ones to be a bit more in keeping with the rest of the group.

Red master in the background was the donor for all he c-Rec bits. Building this back up with later record 8s.

This was my Super which had Dura 7400 on it but built it back up with SR. Photo doesn't quite do the colour justice but it's a lovely blue metallic. Original paint on that blue is done the same way as the saronni red I reckon with layers of blue tinted lacquer to build up the colour.
