Using a spoke as a guide? That's brilliant.

It's a 56cm. It's got a wider range rear cassette now as well as an XT rear derailleur. It's a superb bike!

That Monk is so rad. Aaaaapart from the front rack.
Speaking of that rack, what even is it? narrow, super high, and ugly af, yet i feel like ive seen it on a lot of otherwise good looking builds. Is it just a rear rack put on the front to use with panniers?

Obligatory longer Mudguard/Consider Mudflap comment :-). Nice ride, a stellar commuter choice. What tyres are you running?.

And it's all stock apart from the inline seatpost!

He pretty much described my 650b;
I came back from that ride with a huge smile on my face! I felt like my legs were becoming synchronized with the sway of the frame and the handling was intuitive.
especially this;
This bike wants to go fast. I don’t mean that it goes fast for a steel bike or it goes fast for a bike with rack and fenders, but it really wants to go as fast as any road bike I’ve ridden. I went through this whole process to get a high performance road bike that could handle anything. I was ecstatic once I got to go on a long ride with this bike because it felt just like I had imagined. When I pedal hard the bike flexes just enough and springs back as my next pedal stroke begins. I start to get into the rhythm of the bike and it flies up hills easier than any bike I have ever ridden. The weight of my bike disappears and all I can feel is the liveliness in the frame as it springs back and forth. My legs don’t feel strained because there is enough give that it doesn’t feel like I’m pushing against an immovable wall.
Nail it down to a teeth.

This would do it too.
