  • But why is it so ugly?

  • wrong thread

srs; it was destined to go on commuter .. composit is mad comfy with padded bibs but not so much in upright jeans/trouser situation .. brooks is the obvious answer but I lock this bike everywhere.

  • It looks more like an Evolution than a Dynamic. If you can try a Dynamic I reckon that will be your solution, it looks to have the same shape as the Composit but with a small amount of padding.

  • what was yours that I tried?

  • Mine was an Evolution.

  • I concur, look more like an Evolution, but honestly, best to go for the real deal.

Go for the cheap SMP Extra for commuter.

  • PM'd you re the carbon railed Dynamics. Cheers. Tom

  • Are any of the knock off smp's actually good? I've been having saddle related issues for a little while, hoping a smp could sort out my under carriage but don't want to drop >£100 on yet another saddle.

  • Maybe... Is the shape close to the real ones? If it works I'll be wanting to upgrade to a proper one. If you're able to post I'll happily give you a tenner for it (plus postage obviously)

  • I think its similar to evolution, I've only ever tried legit evolution, legit composit (which I get along really well) and this copy. I was hoping it to be a padded composit shape but its narrower I think.

Yeah can post, where are you based?

  • Have PM'd

  • I tried a fake carbon one and it just about cleaved me asunder. Got the 'chaunts' padded copy off aliexpress and it feels amazing. Different strokes, I guess, but can't complain at £15, and I went through a lot of expensive saddles to get to this point.

  • Had a quick recovery spin on the turbo with the SMP copy I got from Amey. First impressions are good. The pain points I had on my antares no longer seem to be an issue but I still think its going to take some getting used to. I have a long turbo session tonight and a couple of long rides over the weekend that will be the real test.

  • I can't get this right. I've tried about 6 different positions. It feels good for about 45 minutes and then everything goes numb. I guess I might have to try a real one, maybe with less padding

  • Less padding usually work the best, because the pads often deformed and put pressure on your nerve, the real thing doesn't deform (much) and keep it shape when sat on.

However, this is important; riding on turbo trainer and on the road yield completely different result on saddle because of the way you're sat on the bicycle, your cadence, coasting, etc.

  • I guess I might have to try a real one, maybe with less padding

    +1

tbf I never tried that saddle in road bike position, it sucked in upright. I am gonna give Brooks B17 a go.

  • I think I found the problem with these fakes...

  • What a pain in the ass.

  • Not always easy to have the right length screw at hand when assembling stuff.

  • Oh wow. You going to reassemble?

  • Nope. The plan was to strip the foam and recover without it. Its in the bin.

  • I was debating doing this to mine on the way home today- feel it's mandatory now. Praying its not so severe.
