Witnesses would be a tremendous help at this stage.
The main witness is independent.
I'm not sure it's wise to confer, any misphrase could be construed as a leading question. I'd prefer the police handle matching the witness statement to what we've found. I don't want to screw something up that might be the thing that makes any day in court collapse.
