No, your wheel won't take it... it seems to me cheaper to just get another pub bike with a few gears

Nope on current wheel, it's dished and spaced for a single speed set up only.
Measure the dropout spacing on your frame. 120/126/130/135mm
you can pick up budget wheels from £20 for screw on free wheels, these will be old fashioned poor sealing cup and cone bearings.

Get your spacing measured, place a wanted add and most likely get a complete rear with freewheel for little monies, i expect the whole lot can be had on here.
