  • I was wondering what everyone else does. I am currently waiting for the bacon to finish under the grill.

Any clear reasons why one over the other? I used to fry it now I grill, probably started doing that as it is easier to throw the tin foil away than wash up the pan. Plus it is meant to be healthier but thats not going to be a top concern just at the moment

  • Be scrambled eggs but maybe fry the bacon first in the pan for me shortly. If i had some streaky bacon i would grill it first.

Mrs 853 buys the lean low fat bacon which is more healthy but a bit boring.
Grilled streaky so it goes crispy is ace.

Used to work with a Glasgow lad, he would ask the caff ladies to deep fry his bacon :) so it was crispy

  • i grill bacon, if i am eating it whole.
Always smoked, rarely remove the fat, cooked until almost burnt.

IF you bake bacon rashers it goes super crispy

  • Bacon and Chorizo on the oven tray...... crispy

Getting hungry now, only got eggs bacon and brie until the shops open at noon here.

  • Wow, i just thought you could grill or fry bacon -- deep fried sounds.........amazing. Bad for you but amazing

  • yesterday i chopped potatoes into small cubes, whacked them in a fry pan and let them cook a bit, chopped bacon into small bits, sliced some chorizo thinly, wanged it in with the potatoes.
poached a couple of eggs. proper tasty

  • Wild bacon, well wild cooked, the bacon was hunted down in tescos :)

  • We had deep fried bacon rosettes served with waffles in California last year. Was truly astonishing. In fact I'm fairly sure it's the only way they know how to cook it over there.
At home it's grilled with the fat trimmed. If I do it in the pan I make a point of chucking the bread in for the last few minutes to soak up the goodness and toast it a bit.

  • Smokedbaconmallowwrap FTW :)

(probs best you don't attempt this is Londons famous london parks)

  • Raw

  • Thick cut, rind on, unsmoked and fried until crisp. Poached eggs (snotty) and thick granary bread. No butter as that would be unhealthy.

  • Devils on horseback... For christmas

  • Attached to a chicken then baked.

    Grilled if having for breaky.

  • Thick cut, baking tray, oven for 10 - 12 minutes at 180C (fan). Turn after 7-8 min.
Mushrooms brushed with oil can go on the same tray.
Foil liner if averse to washing up.

  • Bacon should be grilled.

Bacon used to be smoked to preserve it. Now that we have invented the refrigerator smoked bacon is an irrelevance. I also never understand a process that adds something to food in order to make it taste worse than it did beforehand.

  • Cured with molasses, smoked, thick cut, fried.

Ideally middle bacon so you get best of both worlds

  • going to cook bacon right now :)

  • You do all know that bacon is a class 1 carcinogen and up there with asbestos and arsenic? right?

  • Your point being?

  • Standard smokey bacon, fat on, fried in proper coconut oil until crispy.
With garlic fried mushrooms and a handful of spinach thrown in seperate pan to wilt in the last minute.
Both on doorstep granary toast. Lots of ground pepper and a tablespoon of salsa. Scrambled eggs on't side...

  • Agreed, smoked anything is wretched.

  • Because bacon is quick and easy........
Sat in bed eating and typing, which means i can multi task.

Bacon/eggs/brie/pepper/clover light (cos butter would be bad for you )

    olive oil in pan.
