Monkee boots:
I've been single handedly reviving them (well, maybe not just me) for about 10 years or so. I love them. They're the antithesis of a lot of what goes on in this thread really. Cheap, plasticky leather and definitely not 'artisan' or 'handmade' or whatever. They're like the epitome of the cheapo bovver boot.
On the subject of monkey boots. I have no idea where the name came from but the old Czech army boots were popular in the 70s and 80s worn by skinheads and alternative types. You can still buy them but I can't remember the last time I saw anyone wearing them. They were really cheap too. Something like a tenner in the late 80s and lasted a fair while.
