eBay purchases: I bought a bike and specifically asked about condition of bearings (among other things). Seller described them as smooth, on putting the bike on my workstand I find they are toasted. I raised this already at the pickup but seller disputed (was of the opinion it was a preload issue, however the corrosion i can see would suggest otherwise).
What's the procedure here - offer seller the chance to sort it, or go straight to a dispute via eBay and PayPal?
Raising a dispute allows communication between you and seller about issue and shows them you're serious. I've had sellers drag private messages beyond the dispute time-limit and then tell me to do one. Would just go straight to dispute nowadays.
