Hard to explain, threaded section could be moved across. Seller said it had something to do with tensioning the kevlar but can't confirm. I solved it by having a cog on both sides to clamp it together.
Sounds a bit like it should be bonded to the skin.
Perhaps, there were lockring type notches on the threaded section which suggest it might be intensional however I have no clue. Sold now anyway!
