Exactly. If you ride in bad conditions, for £20 you can ride further and more comfortably, such good value.

Does that work? Never tried it but I get cold toes often during the winter.

Nice things that last:
Ortlieb panniers - £45/pr s/h off here.
Marathon Supreme 32c - can't remember exact price but 3,300 miles and counting, zero flats, definitely best miles/£ tyres I've used.Cheap but good quality - Decathlon winter jacket, £50. Very warm for not too much material.

I did buy a 5 pack of these chemical toe warmers. Was going to do the RvV sportive in very cold weather so wanted to maximise my chances of my feet staying warm. Didn't work too badly for £1.

When you find a saddle that works for you, it is a revelation. All of a sudden you forget about previous discomfort and pain, and it just becomes an invisible part of the bike.

- Planet X Merino socks, flanders livery of course.
- Gabba! Not cheap but good.
- Topeak 'drybag' phone holder, not pretty but very handy for when you need to use google maps in the rain.
- £13 Alpkit 'tapered' drybag, cable tie it to seat post as a makeshift seat pack for very occasional light touring / long rides - was handy on the dynamo to have an extra layer and some warmers.
- £20 Foakley jawbreakers, look the business and I don't have to worry if they fall off and I run them over.
- Planet X Merino socks, flanders livery of course.

Cross Top levers literally transformed my bike comfort with drop bars. As someone who grew up in London, I never got on with keep grabbing for drop bar levers in town traffic. The one on my XB3 was secondhand but it's been on there for years. Would buy again AAA+ etc.

Cheapo windproof headband from Planet X. I get earache when the air gets cooler and these keep the wind out without making my head too warm. Cost about £6. Downside is that they make me look like a dork when I remove my helmet

Oh yeah decent insoles for my road shoes was a revelation

It's good kit, but it hasn't changed my cycling particularly. I just buy less Endura now.
