  • Compressionless housing sharpen up the v brakes on mine noticeably (SCR-5 and Avid v brakes).

    Would help further with the problem solver travel agent to reduced the amount of throw, but TBH, if you don't mind the levers to have a bit of a throw, merely fitting compressionless housing will sufficient (and give you more room between the pads and rims).

  • Fork mounted hanger is a good shout, the logic behind it seems sound. I'm still not convinced by cantis though, I used them when I was a mere whippersnapper out on the trails. Now that I'm 3 stone heavier and riding in traffic I'm not convinced they would give me the grip I wanted.

    @Aroogah are you using standard (caliper/canti) levers with your v-brakes? That would explain the sponginess. I've got a travel agent you could try if you want, although you'd need to buy a second if you decide that it does work.

  • I've used both the matching touring levers and the Tektro drop bar levers for linear pull brakes. Neither make me happy.
