  • It's the same hubs but SA stamped, the Sun rims are decent, I reckon you're being over cautious.

  • Buy me sushi first.

  • Need to unsee this! Lovely.

  • So what's the riser of choice for the Brompton s2l, preferably silver. Also replacement clamps where's the go to place now, dinokiddo? Sjs?
One last thing my seat post slips when I raise it, slides down a little bit at a time. I'm assuming I just tighten the bolt of the quick release, to remedy this..

  • SJS is the reputable place for Brompton stuff, with riser you may need to buy a whole new cableset for an M type handlebar and trim it a bit shorter to get the idea length for the fold (especially on the rear), also the clamp is 25.4, the new handlebar need to be 22.2 all the way right to the clamp, as the Brompton steerer is notoriously tight if the bar is 25.4 at the riser part.

Lastly, you're right, just nip up the bolt on the seat clamp with a 10mm spanner and you're right as rain.

  • Doubtless prompted by my reclaim avatar.....
I think you may be shy of one 'zed' in 'snórek'
    ;o)

  • Carbon post & SLR will be trialled tomorrow
Fingers crossed I don't end up with a new bum hole or two...

  • I wonder if the post can cope with the amount of adjusting everyday, does it have some kind of guide on setting the torque of the seat clamp?

  • Nope no guide

Already covers my hand in carbon dust when I raise and lower it into the frame - I give it a few months before it impales me.

    Saved like 200g tho bru......

  • With the amount that I eat I'd drop 1kg after a good honest shit.

  • Looks awesome, hope it doesn't cleave your bum in twain...

Im I'm week two of Brompton ownership, 151 miles in and got my first puncture on the standard Brompton tyres. Tiny bit of flint got through the front, luckily heard the rush of escaping air just as I was pulling up to my car, so chucked a marathon greenguard on when I got home.

How are the ti folding bits working? Read somewhere that the little handle things are painful to use compared to the normal ones?

  • Lots of great info in this thread and cool Brompton builds.

I'm currently commuting with an S3L and was wondering based on the gear chart from a few pages back what chainring correlates to "3 speed standard" vs "-12%" vs "-18%"? Am tempted to switch mine out for a smaller ring as an 85 inch top gear seems wrong...

  • 44t should sufficent for you, plus 96 link chain.

  • That's lit fam

  • Don't forget to remove the front and rear reflector, as well as the front bag block (if you don't use it).

  • Front and rear reflector are already on the to-do list - the standard front carrier block will stay until the lightweight version arrives, I use that daily!

  • LITTTTTTTT UPPPPP

  • Rad colour - your Lotus also?

  • Nah - all about the black

  • Lagoon blue is where it's at.

  • I wouldn't want all lagoon blue, but got the black edition and it looks great. I'll get a picture when I'm not riding it in the dark. Might have to wait until summer...

  • Is there any way to get a custom black edition? Quite fancy an M6R with dyno lights and a telescopic seatpost, but the Brompton website's a bit coy as to whether you can do this via a dealer.

  • I arranged with Cyclesurgery for them to get an off the shelf black edition s2l they had in stock and order in a black telescopic post and I just paid the difference. Don't know about dynamo, 6speed etc. Guess it'd depend what they had in stock. Think Brompton were claiming black edition is 'limited' to pre-ordered stock for CS, Evans etc?
