  • New functional project en-route with a hugh thanks to @snottyotter for helping it get to me.

Wont be changing too much but adding a few racks. It'll then go to live with my parents in Wales so I have something to ride there without having to battle with the bastards at Great Western to get my bike on their trains.

  • Looks cheeky, loving the paint.

  • Yeah that was a big factor in me buying it, i love smoked paint. Also it was under £90 with the full original spec. Hopefully it'll clean up nicely.

Plan is to spend as little as possible and use my parts bin, to do list will be:

    • full clean and re-grease the headset
    • replace canti's for v brakes
    • Low riders and rack/basket
    • replace saddle
    • replace pedals (flats or SPD havent decided yet)
    • sweepy bars with better grips
    • sealed bb

    and optionally

    • 1x (depending on ratios and if my spare narrow wide fits)
    • new rear wheel and swap out gears for a SLX long cage with trigger shifter 10 speed.
    • New tyres; possibly Halo h-block, possibly twin rails, see what I can pinch.
  • replace canti's for v brakes

Want some Paul Mini Moto? Black obv
    Also have Paul chaincatcher.

  • Paul Mini Moto

Erm, maybe depends how much? I already have a spare set of V's

  • both for £120? I am about 80% certain that the clamp on chaincatcher is 31.8.

    Instant Radvist vibes.

  • Sounding good. Great thing with these retro mtbs being so cheap you're sure not to resent it and can guarantee it'll be put through its paces. Making me wish I still had my M-Trax.

  • I'll pass thanks, that probably more than I'll spend on the entire bike. Will let you know if I need the chain catcher thanks.

  • Super sick! lucky on the lowrider eyelets.. looks to be in great shape too.

  • Ya they were another key winning feature. Will post better photos when it arrives.

  • Make sure @snottyotter checks those cantis properly

  • They might get burnt lost in transit.

  • No...

  • Can ride a wall !

  • Finally got around to fitting the rack. I humbly submit for you dis/approval, jokes, scorn, etc......

  • I remember your thread about this a little while back. I dig it, looks good with the pizza rack!

If it were mine, i would go for a quill and some sweepy bars instead. Or if it must be drops, then a quill and Deda Piega compact 26.0 bars :)

    Looks very enjoyable regardless

  • Agree with t0-ster re threadless converter and would like to add different chainset - that nexus townbike thing really doesn't look too good.

    Otherwise nice & functional!

  • Anyone ever seen one of the Velo Vitality framesets built up or had any expereince with them at all? Seem a cheap way to get a functional build - https://www.velovitality.co.uk/collections/framesets/products/countryspeed-lugged-steel-frameset

  • No, but I can vouch for the shop and the owner.
    Great place, great guy.

  • Seem good, have bought compass tyres from them before...I didn't even know they did frames, its not in their site menu? Its like they're some secret you have to know exist.

  • Seems like a one-off, not their own production line

  • Yeah, only one size, just happens to be perfect for me.

Interesting there's no mention of what its built from - 3.95kg suggests nothing particularly exotic.

Anyone know what the deal is with the fairly 'utilitarian' seatstay bridge?

  • I think those are put there to mount a frame lock on. Pretty handy in the city for quick lockups!
