Ha! Ok well would like to hear about that!
-
• #503
Pretty sure Dammit and Laner had forks fail which had been done by that guy - think they had racks/mudguard issues
As Hoops says think @coldharbour would know more

No problem, but it's locked away for today....if you go to the previous page though, it looks a lot like that red/barber pole one

• #505
The mounting stays are too short:)

Many thanks - figured it might probably be insert(s) with threaded inserts welded/brazed into place. Just wondered if they'd squashed the fork fork blade flat or used a rounded type plate to wrap around the (still round) fork blade.

• #508
Is that yours? Does the indexing work well?
-

He's a really nice guy, but we had issues with all the bosses, and I ended up having to bin @laner's fork and making him a maximum gains to replace it. He very well may have changed the way he mounts stuff to forks though, this was a few years ago.

Much obliged @stedlocks. Don't supose you could take one showing the inside of the fork blade also?
-
• #512
I should be able to later.....ill be changing tyres, and General fettling!
-
• #513
is that the same 'insert' (dropout) as the diverge carbon fork?!
-
• #514
I don't know what that has, but this is a totally steel fork....that bit is like a washer on the end of the 12mm bolt through...

Sorry for crap pictures....
Front mount, as requested, and a picture of the fag paper clearances with 2.0 beavers! I reckon a 1.8 would be perfect, or wait till specialized bring out the 650b wheel....

Those clearances look dangerous!

Oh yes.... I won't be riding it like that! I just had those tyres knocking around and thought I'd see if they fit.....tight as a nun's chuff. I'll be putting the original sawtooth tyres back on (excellent tyres they are too!) when I get a minute..... I only took the photo for @Alb to have a look at the front fork mount.

Surely any 650b wheelset will be fine? Halo Vapour for instance that's reasonably light, tough and sound expensive.
-
• #519
I agree, but 12mm bolt through seems a bit thin on the ground.....do you know of any good options?
I'm a bit out of touch with all the new 'standards' that keep getting bandied around! -
• #520
Halo Vapour are thru axle.
That axles on your Sequoia are the new standard (15mm front, 12mm rear)
-
• #521
No, they are both 12mm....
-
• #522
Huh, odd choice.
Either way, those wheel usually come with an option of thru axle or quick release, some have cap that can be plugged in to run 12mm as well as 15mm (like DT Swiss 240 FIFTEEN)
-
• #523
Bitex are the cheapest (BX106R/F). Then DT Swiss 350 (Road CL 15mm thru axle hub can be converted to 12mm using adapter). Novatec as well.
12x100 is still relatively new 'road' standard so not much choice atm.
I have DT350, can't complain.

Ah....thanks :0)
Apparently, the specialized ones will be out soon enough...continental do some decent 1.8x700, but I'm not in any mad rush....I've got my stache sorted for the mud now, my spearfish for the better weather/longer rides and this sequoia for dry dirt duties......can I trademark that? :0)

You'd like the Compass Switchback Hill tyres on the 650b, very light, felt fast and incredibly comfortable.
I'm envious you got a Sequoia, I was intended on getting one on R2W, but end up having to get a Brompton for commuting temporary.
@coldharbour is Talbot!
