Swapped my 26" Scwalbe City Jets for a Big Ben rear/Snow Stud front for winter commute to save the gumwalls.
I highly doubt it'll get frosty enough to justify the studs(they're only on the shoulders) but it sounds like you're riding on rice crispies and was only a tenner cos Black Friday. Pumped up hard the studs don't touch the ground unless you're leaning. But leaning is forbidden.
They didn't feel that much slower than the City Jets but my commute is only 4mi on a mix of canal paths and knackered industrial roads so hard to tell.
