Crouch End this time--not looking as impressive and devastating as other floods just yet:

And here's a warning of things to come--let's hope it doesn't happen as forecast:

A curious set of comments on that article,
and,
few (so far) relating to the potential for flooding. -

Paving over gardens seems to be going on as much as ever, even though I think a lot of councils have policies against it. Controlled Parking Zones are blamed, but managing on-street car parking is much better than generating a lot of off-street car parking.

As won't have escaped anyone's attention, lots of flooding recently, including today in Purley:
-
• #12
Yet another one in West London.
It does make you wonder if this might be tangentially related to hippy passing through Shepherd's Bush every so often.

Now for some proper floods. The wrong kind of landslip on the line:
Hurriedly-written articles leading to excellent proofreading:
There were reports that two passengers, including a pregnant woman, were injured though no one was thought to be seriously thought.
Also:
Herne Hill, which has seen severe flooding in the past, was not affected by the storms.
Seeing as it was only a mains burst that did for HH, that's not too surprising.
Expecting still more stories later.

Of the popular water mains bursts series:
Now the question is just whether it'll remain in place for long enough for crayfish to evolve.

Hope everybody will be safe.

We're in Greenwich/blackheath and our water has been off for the last three hours or so. Just came back on though.
Apparently about 400m of road was flowing like a river!

Live about 100m from Lee High Road up a small rise that keeps us from being affected plus LHR is an ever so slight uphill gradient from Lewi town centre

13:00 - Just spoke to my son who lives above the Enterprise car/Pacific Pizza place. The water is going away but the coach is still there and the area is still taped off.
Lazy sod has just got up and so doesn't know if he's got any water yet ... -

Can report that 9 hours after the biggest mobile crane in the world arrived, the coach still has one wheel in a pothole.

Pictures here:
These really seem to be happening with alarming regularity now. Clearly, the Victorian Mains replacement programme hadn't got there yet.

How's Lee High Street doing, by the way? It's all gone quiet.

It seems to be done now, just reinstatment left. Hopefully back open this week
