Take off the VAT, £250.
Bike builders earn £7.75-£8.20 per hour, call it £8.00/h, add on the Employer's NI contribution and you get £8.45/h. So you can afford 29.5 person-hours before making a loss, not including consumables and static costs (utilities etc).
Halfords expect bike builders to do 4 bikes per hour regardless of type, which says a lot about their quality expectations.
Cost and price are two very different things. If they build it, they also need to add a bit to pay for dealing with any faults caused by the service rather than the parts or user.

Building a Halfords bike is taking it out of the box and maybe turning the forks the right way round, I imagine PX bikes are actually built up.

'Rims ETRTO: 622x15C '
Doesn't this limit the wdith of tyres one can use on these Mavic wheels?
-
• #1638
Sounds like a decent deal - RRP is £370 for the wheelset.
They come at £137.89 for the wheelset including delivery on the Canyon website.I just don't need wheels!

They're not on trend wide rims but they'd be fine for 23-28s. They're road wheels after all.

I got the shorts and cap and wore them on my sunday ride this weekend. Shorts are really good for the money, didn't think I'd get on with the pad when it arrived but it fits well and was pretty comfy. Definitely worth the money.

Haha, yeah probably for the best! You've got to be REALLY sure you've got the right person (and that no-one else can hear you).
Right about the sales, but I can always do with more lycra I guess, and I do like a bargain...
£300 difference for the RTD80. Is it really £300 to build a bike?
