Are you sure it's the trail and not the fork rake? A low trail fork rake is usually 60-70mm, to give a trail of 35-45mm.

But his head-angle i 70, and those big tires end up neutralizing all the rake to some extent:

59mm trail is very low for an MTB style geometry.

Road race geometry is usually 57mm trail to give you an idea, so @Alb is right on the money.
