  • Wow. You did get to a high vantage point.

  • too literal? #oil

  • Vegetable Oil

  • Were all of these photographs taken this week?

  • What constitutes a digital photograph?
Of course not, or maybe, I'd have to ask Mr Google.
I'm not sure with Burtynsky that you can separate the subject from the technique and Google satellite view is about as close as most of us are going to get to it.
Anyway it was fun to make. If you've not looked at Texas oilfields on there you should, the scale is breathtaking.

  • I'm fine with that. I wondered however if one were to digitally alter one of put archive images if that would be considers 'this week'. Would the exif remain?

  • I suppose if someone only entered old pictures, tried to pretend they hadn't and then had a mega-sulk about it.... but that would never happen.
Anyway, I have a helicopter to take back. The rental is killing me.

  • So can I take a photo of some Selgado for instance now if the context is correct ?

  • Anyhow here's mine....Put hgh street, one of the most polluted streets in London....huge traffic flow
and a "valley" effect to concentrate all that bad shit ........taken Tuesday.

  • Anyhooo, just to avoid controversy, this will be my entry.
We hear a lot about the downside of oil but what of its benefits? What of the humble lava lamp with it's sometimes soothing, sometimes provocative, shapes? For example, a mushroom cloud approaching a pair of breasts, an image which, perhaps, symbolises so well the destruction wrought on Mother Earth in pursuit of profit. (Interpretations of lava shapes may vary)

    Lavacaust.

  • Sneaky spam for BP? :)

    (Good image.)

  • Nice, looks almost like machinery at an oil refinery.

(I have no idea what an oil refinery really looks like, but that's how I imagine it.)

  • Olive oil and balsamic vinegar?

  • Nearly. Bit of old machinery filled with engine oil and lit from below.
    Totally winging it this week.

  • @moocher cool as fuck mate

  • #Oil Refinery
9 photos, shot through a hole in the fence then stitched in Photoshop. Couldn't get any higher :(

  • Looks like Putney High Street. :)

  • Sorry I was just teasing, I didn't object to your entry, especially as you've always been transparent about your technique. It's not like submitting entries pretending they're from the current week when they aren't. I feel bad now :/
