This is certainly interesting, the videos sure seems it would work well.
they just got on kickstarter. -

So the shifters and cables are replaced by shorter cables linked to servos that are mounted on the frame? That doesn't seem as sensible as just putting the servo in the derailleurs like di2, so its affordability will be the big plus rather than weight saving.
-
• #985
Its for use with other standard derailleurs...
-
• #986
True, but what's the key benefit of "upgrading" from standard mechanical shifters to xshift?
-
• #987
Well I wouldn't so I can't say for sure but could be handy for some applications.
Risers on a road bike? So you don't have to switch to Sram or find the hens teeth veloce flat bar shifters etc.
Just want to have electric shifting but have an old groupset?
Can't see it being very handy on drop bars but for tourers and flat bar bikes it could be useful.
It also has that semi auto feature so you can start in the little ring up the cassette and work your way through the full range of gears front and back with just one button. -

Did the Shockstop Stem ever make it into this thread? Looks like the neatest suspension stem that I've ever seen.
-
• #989
Mmm flexy stems. donotwant.jpg
-
• #990
I've never tried one, what are they like?
-
• #991
No idea. I've never really had need to add suspension to a road bike.
I don't like the idea of stems moving though. I'll keep the road buzz.
Shock seatposts though, I would consider.

Fair enough. I guess if they have made decent strides in torsional rigidity it might not be too bad.
-
• #994
Would be fun if the first rider in the peloton had one of these and it started leaking all over the place.
-
• #995
Stupid idea and the 12W claim is laughable.
If it dispensed chamois cream on the other hand...
-
• #996
Then cycling would be like wacky races or Mario kart?
-
• #997
Bro do you even London?

• #998
Interesting?!
