You can donate it to a good cause ;)

Not that one. I've got this setup: conical spacer - stem - spacer - topcap.
It's a regular spacer I've currently got but would like one with a narrower profile. All it does is allow for the top cap to compress the bearings...

Cheers mate, is it red and viscous?
-
• #7256
Redder and thicker than a '98 Tour blood sample

I'll swap a cash donation for it.

It'll have to be next month now anyway. Is it 110? Think 120 is pushing it a bit

I'll dig it out for you

This is really old but I found it interesting:

Very interesting!
Well played to the 3 that survived the test.

Interesting read!
I may not die on my CAAD4 F1000 that's good to know :P
So, if you want a superstrong frame, it seems a good alu frame with no bottle cage holes may do the job.
The only place I see mine go wrong is there, it has two bottle cage spots on the downtube, which is bloody massive but there is minor corrosion caused by water under the paint. It's not a serious type of corrosion and many MTBer happily use such frames but...
Well let's say I won't go mad jumping right away.

My BB30 bearings are dead, 2,000 dry Km killed them which is a little disappointing.
I've got some ceramic bearings to go in so will see if they last any longer.

FTFY.

Ah i see!
are you using an SI expander? if so you don't need to run a spacer on top
If not, i have this same issue on my Synapse, where the 5mm spacer is slightly wider than the top cap.

Yes but without the spacer I wasn't getting and pre-load on the bearings. It's a 2mm space, no big issue carrying on using it, I'd just like something aesthetically neater.

My idea looks good eh? Apparently it was for Cannondale UK

It won't.
If the bearing isn't sitting properly/chainset fitted incorrectly, etc. then it gonna wear out.
-
• #7271
I'm pretty confident that the bearings were fitted correctly, I do wonder whether I had a little too much preload on them though - I'll use less this time, we shall see.
-
• #7272
I'm not doubting that they have been fitted incorrectly, but with Cannondale you never know if the frame is sound to begin with.
