Team orders are allowed and have been since 2011.
I imagine he wanted to minimise the risk.

• #5953
I imagine there are plenty of other reasons also!

That sucks balls.
Thanks Bernie, you evil toad.

• #5956
That's rubbish. Do pubs ever show F1?
-
• #5957
Who knows.
We are coming to the point in the cycle where the fuckwits in charge decide that a team has dominated for too long and a major rule/hardware change is required.
We'll have one good season with the current set up, where a couple of the big teams have caught up to the merc, then SHOCK! HORROR! One team will come out after the quad turbo 1l hybrids have been introduced and dominate again.

Formula E it is then.
Need wipeout race aids for sustainable viewing tho.

There used to be a pub in central London that would show the first race of the year (in the middle of the night naturally, not sure how the licensing worked). But I can't imagine F1 being a sport that pubs would show. Nowhere near as many drunken louts showing up to drink beer all night.

I've tried watching Formula E. I don't think I've ever got to the end of a race without dropping off. Watching televised battery management is, in my experience, less than enthralling. With F1 I usually manage to stay away for about half of the races.
WEC for me.

I wonder if C4 can still show their highlights show. I'm relatively happy watching the MotoGP on ITV4 on a Monday evening (except not getting to watch the Moto3 aside from a 3 minute round up).

Except it's not really Mercedes though, is it. It's some lab in Brackley. Merc just supply the money.
-
• #5963
Are you suggesting that if I were to choose to purchase an S-Class then "some lab in Brackley" would supply the engine, transmission, suspension and brakes?
-
• #5964
The opposite, no? That a class will have fuck all on it that has anything to do with the lab in brackley
-
• #5965
Because Hamilton will have been sandbagging the sections where it's near on impossible to pass and then giving it the beans elsewhere.

Had watched F1 most races since I got hooked at 6 years old in 1982. Managed to stick to my flounce and didn't watch any this year. Didn't miss it really. Don't have Sky or any intention to get it so I guess now I don't have a choice. Shame.

plenty of online streaming sources to watch it if you really want
no money goes to bernie or murdoch

Probably old news. But BBC running the story that German GP dropped and Brazil only provisional next year. Montreal keeps its GP though.
-
• #5970
That's my point - I know that the F1 car has nothing to do with Mercedes, it's the team management who represent the company, and Nico who is chosen as the frontman. It's they, not Brackley, who represent the brand, and it's their behaviour that should inform a buying decision.

So what if the article is 8 months old? It doesn't take effect till 2019-2024. For some, hearing the news late, it will still be an uncomfortable future.

Are the rear wing pillars actually going to look like that or is that just on the mule cars?
Looks pretty awesome as is.

I have tickets for the Shanghai GP next year. Woo!
(not going to China just for the GP, but it's nice that it occurs while I'm over there)
Will we be in the EU when that happens do you think?
