I was considering a Powertap P1S (left only version)- easy enough to swap between my two bikes (Shimano 105 and Rotor 3d+ cranks) and also take on holiday for hire bikes, and in theory I could buy the right pedal at a later date.
Until I saw the price - £700 for left only vs £949 for both l/r

The crazy pricing for the P1S rules that out, and I'm not sure I want to drop £949 on a power meter for the dual l/r at the moment.
Anything else I should be considering ? Garmin Vectors are better with pricing - £472 for left only vs £854 for l/r (and the upgrade kit for right at £412). However these tend to get a bad rep don't they ?

If you have rotor 3d+ cranks I would suggest a Power2Max spider for them. Unless one of your bikes is bb90 you should be able to get a bb to fit it and swapping them between bikes is a 5min job.

I know people have had issues with Vectors, particularly the first version, and my experience of them is pretty limited (one week's riding in Mallorca) but so far I've been very happy with mine. I've got them fitted in Ultegra 6800 pedal bodies and so far they've worked nicely. Installation is a bit of a faff in that it is best done with a torque wrench, but it's not that bad.

Limits is the obvious solution.

I have vectors and even set up correctly they under read incrementally higher the more power you put through them vs. a watt bike, i'm pulling together proper data but at up to 200 its about 1% or less, then up to 300 it grows to about 5% and over 300 it gets up to 10% out, so they are probably ok for weekend warriors and indeed most club rides I avg about 200 or so, but for TT'ing I think the inaccuracy is too great!

Interesting. I'll try and stick them on a bike with a Powertap and see how they compare for me. It'll involve syncing two power files, which will be a massive PITA, but such is life. From my trip to Mallorca the power readings from the Vectors seemed pretty consistent with what I'd expect them to be, although I'm not sure my self-assessed power estimate is accurate to 10%. Definitely not at over 300W.

yeah, I'm just struggling to upload the stupid watt bike .wse file as I have a mac at home and cant download software onto my work computer and the only way of getting the files into TP or garmin requires the watt bike expert software is only available for windows.

I suppose I need to ask myself if i really need to be able to swap a PM between bikes. Don't need it for commuting or group rides on my winter bike. Only really need it for turbo/roller sessions at the moment, and then road work/TT'ing spring/summer.
I could just get a Power2Max for the Rotor cranks on the bike I'm using for TT'ing and use that on the indoor trainer. Get a Rotor BB for a BSA shell If I really want to sick it on my winter/commuter bike as well.

Just under a week, the last one I got. I ordered it on the 15th, it was delivered on the 21st.

I bought a sticker from them and it took a couple of weeks.

No. If only that worked with power meters. I'd have another Powertap if it did.

Speaking of which, I'll have an MTB powertap with a road 11 speed Shimano freehub available shortly, if anyone wants power on a bike with disc brakes.
