The Raleigh Record Ace had a hollow nickel steel axle (A-16-N)
A16 BB axles can still be had, but it looks like they come as GC and NGC versions (Gear Case / Non Gear Case). There is this one for example on SJS https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/bottom-brackets/cottered-bottom-bracket-axle-a16/
