I've taken to benjam's method too, of creating a den of a safe space. Hazel has a dog bed (giant pillow) in there, a blanket, a rug/blanket covering the top and sides and I sewed a little pillow for her too, which I think she quite likes. She goes to bed there on her own during the day and at night. Taking her teddy with her. I've always left the door open in the night.
Only locked her in when she's been particularly naughty, or I've had deliveries etc.
Kongs and peanut butter....they go mental for it
