Let me join you all, as an overweight (slightly!) 47 yo with a mad wife who has declared that for her 50th we are going to run the South Downs Way next April.
She has an endurance pedigree (100 mile TT champ; good for age marathon runner); I don't...
Training for me started one month ago. Longest run so far was the 3 Molehills last weekend. 14 hilly miles in 2.15 or so. Stiff as a post afterwards, but dragged my sorry arse out tonight for a gentle 8km shake out - heavy legs but felt better for doing it.
Basic plan is 4 runs per week - 2 consecutive mid week evenings - plus Saturday and Sunday (long run). And some blubber loss.
As an aside, I have a 9 year old niece (she might be 10) who has done a 20.01 park run... Makes me feel uber slow!
So many runners, and so many amazing runners!!
