And we have bubbles, lots of bubbles in the coolant tank.
This was after running at idle for around 5 minutes.

Not looking good, check for leaks maybe get an MOT station to see if there are exhaust gasses in the tank.

Haha, luckily it has its MOT tomorrow!

Little progress on the mini, removed the rust from the fuel tank, filled the holes in it and primed it ready for paint.

hows the inside for rust? if theres any, at all, its new tank time!
-
• #31236
Por 15 tank liner job jobed, but a new or rust free second hand tank may be cheaper.
-
• #31237
The inside is all good as it was stored 3/4 full that's why there's only just near the top I reckon. When I drained the fuel there weren't any bits of rust in it. Was just a stale straw colour abs it'd been in there for 10 years.

New episode of Project Binky tomorrow, binge watched the last few episodes today to remember where they got up to.

6 cylinder legacy last well and pretty nice to drive. Engines are a lot stronger than the 4 cylinder turbos.

Coming from Volvo's the idea that an engine can break due to any other reason than massive boost is a strange one- one that I have had to get used to due to the 911 however.

Little disappointed by Binky. Until now it's looked completely standard on the outside. Was hoping they'd find a way to stuff everything under standard arches.
Still. Amazing project.

New welding setup means there is minimal progress on my polo shell.
I have managed to plug weld some old holes in the strut tops, stitch them in and seam stitch both chassis legs.
I need to order some steel sheet in to fabricate the rest of the gussets that need to go in the front end, and i'll be getting a load of bits laser cut too.
Some of the welds aren't the prettiest, but thats partly due to there being boat loads of seam sealer thats nearly impossible to remove.
Will do more at Christmas when i'm next back home.

Where are you working on this?
-

I've had it in storage at my parents house just outside the lake district, I live in Surbiton so progress is somewhat sporadic to say the least!

Nice to see some car lovers on here too.
I'm an e36 man at heart myself.
Not mine by the way, just my photo. My E36's never came close!
I drive a b5 passat estate PD115 and just been doing a tonne of maintenance stuff. Had it around 2-3 months now.
Done timing belt etc recently and just picked up clutch / dual mass etc etc..
Also just picked up some Audi S-Line alloys which are being sent off for paint.
Most exciting thing I have done so far is an EGR delete and PD130 inlet upgrade.

Oh and if it's of any use I work at Nissan in Stamford Hill in the parts department. HMU
When was the coolant replaced recently?
Easy way to check is to see the system is pressurised, or bubling. But I would check for leaks. Leave something carboard under the engine bay to check for leaks so then you can trace.
