Cheapy off road tyre suggestions? this is for some experimentation at the weekend (fnar) rather than anything serious so don't want to blow budget....

That?

That'll handle most conditions well, and Vittorias are, generally, pretty robust so is probably ideal for your needs.

How muddy are you going to go? That tyre is great for full on mud, not so great for other conditions!
Something like this is a decent all round tyre that won't break the bank. This is the rigid version so not super light but it's cheap and does me well for days when I don't want to risk wrecking my race tyres and I'm just riding around.

Very good point - this will be for bridleways and road, mainly. I have a Pasela on the front in 28 or 32 mm at the mo, perhaps it's best to get a matching one for the rear...

The XM isn't Vittoria's full on mud tyre, that's the XL. I'd say the XM is a decent all rounder, it's okay in mud but the tread isn't so raised, soft and squirmy that riding it on anything other than deep mud makes you feel like you're riding on ice.

Your build looks great! Which front rack did you go with, and how did you mount it? Looks like you drilled a hole in the front of your fork crown, yes?

After a close call and a brief slip from my Mini V's, i'm thinking of getting a new fork and a disc brake on the front of my pomp - any recommendations for specs? Open to carbon if the fork is sub £100.
Stipulation - has to have mounts for mudguards.

How did you fuck up so bad that the Mini Vs doesn't work??
Carbon straight steerer fork are getting like hen's teeth now, Surly Straggler fork however fit the bill as the length and trail is similar to the Pompino.
Or the Disc Trucker Fork that's 390mm in length if your fork is that length.

That looks like it fits the bill nicely.
Fucked up because... reasons.

Measure A to C to find out which fit better.

Total dredge reply sorry, but just wondering what width tyres you have on there. Thinking of going up from 28 to 35 on my Pompino with guards and wondered what the clearance would be like. Looks like you have something similar here. Can I ask what wheels they are too? Looking for some fixed wheels that will take 35 tyres. Cheers!

35c - it was tight with guards, but doable. Rear is a DT R460, front is an DT R23 factory build.

Cool, thanks man, will see if I can squeeze them in!

Finally got myself to install knobby tyres and 39t front ring for winter.

I'm sure it's been asked before (a quick search doesn't yield anything), but I have a raw pomp - do I still need to get the bb shell faced?
Cheers

On One told me no for my blue V2 (might be V3). They said maybe scrape the paint off with a scalpel blade if I wanted.

Thanks, thought I'd check as I have an Alfine fcs501 chainset ordered and I was under the impression that with external bearing bbs it is important that the face is square to the thread.
Copenhagen livin' and stuff
