If you like peated, but not at stupid prices, then I can recommend Ledaig which I saw in a shop in Old Compton St the other week for £22, otherwise for a peated blend, order some Black Bottle from the Green Welly shop for £14

I need to get a special bottle of single malt for my best man, but I know the square root of fuck all about whisky. Any recommendations? Anything up to £100.

This is what I'd buy if I had a choice: https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/28976/lagavulin-1998-distillers-edition - a little bit smokey but it's aged in sherry casks so it's not really either overpowering with strong flavours nor is it overly sweet. One sip lasts an amazing amount of time.
