The MTB 10 speed stuff won't work with the road 10 speed.
The road 10 speed (barring the latest Tiagra 4700) will work with whatever shifter you have.

They do the job just fine. Just as good as a wolf tooth or raceface, at least in terms of function. Weight, longevity, and radavist points is probably a different story.

Hammer paint it.

Today was the right time to do something on this project,
this night we got like 50cm snow in stockholm so it was nice to just go down to the garage and do something creative.
@voxelwise order some headtubes from a framebuilder site and i threw in some small stuff in his order for this bike.
it was time for that rear discbrake mount, as usual i like to build from stuff just laying around in the garage.
Took of the old threads for fenders from dropouts.
Time to make a discbrake mount.
All in place, mounted two thread bosses on seatstays for the rear rack.

Tig welded yes?

• #87
Nice. How do you ensure stuff is straight/aligned? This is vital for disc brakes, no?
-
• #88
We only have a shitty mig/mag weld, wish i had a tig :).
yes it is superstraight, best way to do it if you dont have a fancy jig is to put brake/adapter/mount in place, push the brake when you have it nice on the disc and spot weld.
next step, take it all off and weld it as proper as you can :)

• #89
nothing shitty about those mig welds, they look really clean for a mig weld!
-
• #90
Is mig what they sell in Lidl and suchlike?
-
• #91
Sometimes, they usually just have cheap Arc welders in my experience.
I'd look at used ones on ebay.
-
• #92
I'd be surprised if you could buy our mig/mag in Lidl actually.
-
• #93
The snow on your insta looks mental! Cant wait to see this finished!
-
• #94
btw I had some Alex DP17 rims. They're really easy to desticker and look worlds better.

Have done some small jobs on the bike.
i cut away the ugly seatpost clamp for quick realese and replaced it with a old GT bmx clamp i had.
new bridge..
cable guides for rear brake and derailleur are in place.
next up is to work with the dremel and filler to smooth stuff up i little bit before paint :)
-
• #97
This is seriously taking shape. Looking forward to the paint job.
-
• #98
Thanks!
still waiting for more cableguides to the toptube.
-
• #99
Is this some kind of filler in the headtube-area? Have you welded it straight to the remaining part of the lugs? Rest of the work so far looks promising. Deserves some really flashy paint!
-
• #100
yes thats filler, grinded away the leftovers from the old lug where i welded DT and TT :)
Cable discs or hydro?
