Large flat screen TVs on chimney breasts can look a bit out of place. Especially in smaller rooms.
If you have a modest sized room, get a modest sized telly and stick it in the corner. Then let the focal point of the room be your lovely wood burner.
If you want a big screen for occasional use, a projector onto the chimney breast might be better. Solves the chasing in the wires conundrum too.
I guess that depends on if you have a fireplace or not...
Ours is a small room with a 55" TV and it looks great:
