  • Love the bike btw, and glad it's put such a fucking enormous grin on your face!

  • Amazing bike. Can't wait to get my Mudville now - so many similar features.

  • Mate, I'm so glad you're happy with the Di2.

I have had a similar experience having moved from SRAM Red, which was still bloody great, to Di2. I also recognise the slight design fault in the shifters in cold weather (too close together) but it's not fatal.

  • awesome

  • That first time on Di2..

  • Very surprised you didn't go for dynamo lighting btw. Nonetheless - boss hawg

  • This is such a classy build, paint job is spot on!

  • Sorry to hear about the crash :(

  • Sorry to hear about the crash :(

    Wait. What?!

  • ???

  • Haha, thanks!

I hit a patch of black ice just south of North Berwick today. Front wheel slid from under me and somehow the bike flipped over me as I fell. Luckily I was taking it easy as it's been very cold and icy the last few days so was only going around 15 mph.

Shifters are scratched all over, rear wheel out of true and read mech is potentially dead (it's bent and, along with the shifters, looks to have taken the brunt of the fall). Frame and forks have a scratch here and there.

The bike is back at Shand HQ and they're gonna fix it up for me!

Kinda sucks to have my first really bad crash in over 7 years of cycling on a bike I've only ridden twice but, hey ho, shit happens and I'm not hurt.

  • Bad luck. Glad bike / rider arnt srzly hurt

  • Look at it like this Matt, it'll be less precious now and you can get on with enjoying riding it!

  • ^ this. Reminds me of those people who insist on keeping the screen protector on their phone even though it's half hanging off. Glad to hear you're okay and the bike's not too bad.

  • Just seen this thread. Congrats on a lovely build!

On the off chance that you ever fall out of love with this, I'd love to have first dibs pleeeaaassseeee.

  • I haven't posted a recent photo of this bike in ages and, as all my old photo links appear to have died a quiet death, I though I'd update this thread with a recent photo or two.

So, here it is as it currently stands:

I replaced the Enve seat post and full carbon Brooks with a ti Lynskey and all weather Brooks because I got the fear of carbon impalement when running the Swift saddlebag and Bagman support. I've kept the carbon seat post and saddle for when I'm feeling sporty.

Currently it's my Spring/Summer go-to bike. I have others I use during the winter months although my circumstances have changed and I may be looking to consolidate two bikes into one (but that'll be saved for a new thread) to save some space.

Crushing the miles on this has been bliss as it's the most comfortable bike I've ever owned. 300km audaxes? No problem. Fast club runs? Sure, why not.

I've got some epic shit coming up this year including a 1,000km DIY audax up to the highlands so I may update this thread with pics as I go a la @sensom. I'm not as witty or articulate as he is (nor do I have the fanciable locks) but I've got the legs and the scenery ain't that bad up here in Scotland.

  • Sounds good! looking forward to a report.
Do you think the Lynskey comes off that post or is it laser'd on?

  • What is this, a photo for ants??? Am I the only person seeing it like this?
