For me the today page isn't as helpful because I need to click on each post to see what has been written. When there was the constant stream of things I used to stick it on when I was doing something mind numbing and it would give me a break from it every so often when I'd see something I was interested in, it also made a sort of serendipitous finding of threads.
Makes sense to do a IFTTT, if you could then that would be awesome. I thought about asking for it when I noticed it stopping but it seemed insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
The reason I like having a tweet or a page on here if there is a new thread, is I don't have to trawl through the classifieds looking for the new threads. I used to use the classifieds as a sort of constant stream of things I might want to buy, where now it has shifted to searching for particular things.

Just seen that to publish a single service costs $199 per month: https://partners.ifttt.com/pricing
Er, that's not going to happen.
I'll have to do the Twitter client thing. Which is a pain in the arse.

Indeed watching the live stream was a favorite pastime of mine and many others I suspect. The beating heart of the vbullitin forum. I bet many have asked to get that back over the past 2 years...
...and polls (see photography challenge thread weekly polling challenge)
That feature went away, and you're the first person to ask for it in 2 years.
It could be done again, for the public conversations and events.
I'd need to write the code. Hmm, maybe best as an IFTTT thing to be honest, maybe I@ll write that instead.
Otherwise your best bet is the today page: https://www.lfgss.com/today/
