k edge cx chain guide
PRO buyer level.
Or just an old modified front mech? Or a type 2 rear d and ride smoothly?

Why would you need one?
Deda dog fang?

• #5409
Thats pricey .. half the price of a XT di2 rear mech.
Its Di2 .. chain has dropped once and I don't even CX, chain is correct length, I just want to safeguard it. Part of me wishes I went with XTR Di2 but its mad pricey. XT is more palatable but a chaincatcher would be a cheap fix hopefully.

Deda dog fang?
wont fit, non-rounded shape.

If you can find it in stock the chain guide on my giant tcx has worked very well so far although now the grounds softened up I'll be taking it off as there's less chain slap

Bottom bracket mount chain keepers can be had much cheaper; the hope one is about Β£35.

I actually saw that in giant store the other day on TCX, it might work as it looks side mounted:
This might work as it comes with a rounded thing: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/osymetric-chain-catcher/

Ah - looking closer at the pic those aint threads, are they...?

• #5416
So you need a braze on chain keeper? How about this fella
Another option might be an inner and outer bash guard type thing.
Or SRAM.

The k-edge xl are very good but I still regret spending that much money.
EDIT: like how the product page there says: "tested by Telenet-Fidea". Will probably sell more units than "tested by CrelanβVastgoedservice".

Have you increased the spring tension in the rear derailleur?
I've done this to my di2 derailleur and it's worked perfectly so far, I also did the same thing when running a shimano cable derailleur last year and it was problem free

yeah - you shouldn't be dropping chains on the road with n/w chainring.
What is the setup?
Hell, I didn't even drop a chain the other week after going over the bars and rolling the bike several times in a CX race...
-
• #5422
Why I oughta....
-
• #5423
I dropped it going on a really rough surface while in 42x11 gear .. after that I shortened it further, still have the fear as it's a bit 'lose' in last 3 gears.
@biarittz I'll PM you, if you can post a pic that would be great!
@gofasterstipes I knew about the mechanical version had the spring adjustment didnt know about Di2, the exploded diagram wasnt clear enough.

You're on the list now Sam
Had snow at Tredegar yesterday for R9 of the Welsh CX league. Arrived just after the kids finished their races - HQ full of CX youthsters, crying their eyes out and trying to get warm.
Lovely course with a mix of flat concrete/tarmac and MTB woodland terrain. All going well until the last lap when my brakes decided to give up, resulting in a major off through brambles and ending with a heavy head smash onto a hidden rock. Managed to remount and finish covered in mud & blood pouring out of my bonce.
Followed this with 4 hours in A&E: 3 hours waiting for a guy to spend 10 minutes stitching up my gash, then another hour waiting for a nurse to spend 20 seconds doing a tetanus injection. Lots of time to reflect......
