Shimano SLX br-m665 brakes
a) These are still good, right?
b) Can I trim the hoses without a rebleed?
c) There's basically no pad travel at the back, I guess someone pulled the lever a bit too much without the disc in. How do I fix? -

No idea if this helps, just remembered seeing it when buying a bleed kit.

use something to pry the pads/pistons back apart

That's where I saw it, thanks!

Seems easy. Too easy. . .

Go gently
the pistons need to retract without getting jammed. it's the same procedure when you stick new pads back in, the pistons need to be retracted.

I have never successfully trimmed hoses without needing to rebleed, I am not convinced it is possible.
If its any consolation you wouldnt need to do a full bleed (opening bleed port on the brake) as presumably the lower end of the system will have nice fresh oil in it with no bubbles. Just top the lever reservoir up with oil, give the cables and lever a good waggle - then compress the lever 10 times with the bleed block inbetween the pistons present to force out anymore bubbles. Easy

Rubber band also helps escape those tiny farts

Are B01S resin pads shit?

Love them, good enough for polo!

So, this morning my front disc that was working perfectly saturday morning decided it could just stop braking and start squealing instead.
Had the same problem with the old disc / pads which is why I swapped them three weeks ago.
What could have caused this? contaminated pads? From standing in the cellar?
Although dragging the brake through a downhill section of my commute brought back the power and stopped it squealing. Burned it clean I guess.

On what system? I do this quite regularly when fitting new Shimano hydraulic brakes as it work out cheaper than reviving the old Tektro brakeset.
Its entirely and most definitely possible.

brake left alone for a while sometime start to squeal before getting back to normal, probably due to dust on rotor and whatnot.
Also don't drag the brakes too much, as it will cause it to burn it out (thus create squeal and reduced power).

Piston seal has a leak.
Maybe

Was there's moisture in the place you store it for two days?
-
• #2643
Pissing it down there too? Crap off the road splashed/flung onto rotor?
-
• #2644
Nope, dry and cold.
Maybe crap from the road or something. Or rain running down the hose into the caliper and washing the dirt down onto the disc.
The caliper does look dirty.

But then I should feel the lever getting spongy or something like that?
Not unless there's fluid pouring out, no.

Very nice but that in Hope's pricing territory...
-
• #2647
Or you could buy a set for the same price.
Wait. The original link was a set. So kinda half the price of some Hope E4s.

Yeap, realised that after double checking! Tempting... Cheaper than Saints too...
