Tommasini Super Prestige built with Campagnolo Croce D'aune (maybe a few C-Record parts) with many being NOS. This has sat in my garage for a couple of years and although very VERY pretty is sadly to small for me.

    Sizing:
    Seat tube: 53.5cm c-c 55cm c-t
    Top tube: 55cm c-c

Made from Columbus SLX, with Panto'd Tommasini Air forks, Campagnolo dropouts and Cinelli Investment cast BB shell. Chrome is perfect all round. Original paint is overall excellent, there is a couple of touch up marks due to cable rub / placement of a pump which I have shown in the pics. Engraved brake bridge, seattube caps, and chromed heatube lugs as one would expect.

    Campagnolo Croce D'aune:

    • Delta calipers
    • Chainset (some heal rub)
    • Pedals
    • BB
    • Headset (NOS)
    • Front mech
    • Rear mech
    • Downtube shifters (NOS)
    • Brake levers and hoods (NOS)
    • Seatpost

Newly built wheels on C-record hubs (I think!) with NOS unmarked Campagnolo Omega tubular rims and new Vittoria Open Corsa Evo SC tyres.

    • Cinelli Bars NOS
    • Cinelli stem pantographed
    • Iscaselle Tornado Tour Saddle (NOS)
    • Tomassini bottles (NOS)

    Price is £1500

I am located in Manchester and would much prefer pickup, although I can post. I have not been active on the forum for the last couple of years but did sell a lot on here in the past - so feel free to check my old threads.

    Cheers!

  • Nice bike! Could do with some better pictures, outside, against a less busy background.

  • Yes I am no photographer! will take some shortly.

  • Some outdoor pics - Surprise surprise Manchester is a little dreery today!

  • Would you care to elaborate the reason for the 400 pound price hike since it last sold on retrobike for 1.1k?
    http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=331776

  • Umm appreciation?! To be honest it is hardly as if I bought it to flip - I bought it over a year ago and could not recall the price paid. Also, you rarely achieve asking price - people like to knock money off.

    But thanks Sherlock!

  • These are hard days for everyone, @Sig_Arlecchino

  • Well I agree that the 1.1k asked on retrobike was a proper bargain but it's still kind of odd that you claim that the bike "has sat in my garage for a couple of years" when you only bought it less than 1,5 years ago. I guess the former seller from RB probably made a loss selling it so I find it hard to see why you should make a profit of it. The community spirit on RB and LFGSS is somewhat similar so it would only be fair to sell it for the same price imho.

  • In a few more months Brexit will halve the value of the pound then this will be a real bargain for non UK folk.

Might be able to offer Euro butter vouchers or something.

(Unless Italy has a banking crash or Trump does one tenth of the things he is threatening to do)

  • I think finding it strange that I said it had sat in my garage for a couple of years, when it was only 1.5 - is a bit strange! I apologise that I didn't fact check my post and rounded up the time in my garage to the closest year!

I don't follow your logic that a bike has to be sold for the last price it was sold for, but everyone has a right to an opinion. I guess this thread has been derailed so would ask that the mods lock this post and I will list elsewhere.

    Cheers

  • The pound's depreciation is a fair point tbh but why not just be honest up front and say: I bought it from RB 1,5 years ago, I didn't change any parts but I would like to get my money back which means that adjusted for the currency fluctuations I would like to have x pounds for it.

p.s. making a profit of flipping bikes isn't a problem at all as long as you do it on ebay gumtree etc. on RB & LFGSS on the other hand, it is frowned upon. I just thought that prospective buyers would be interested to know about the bike's sale history. It's a stunning bike and I wish you good luck with the sale, rest assured I'll stop derailing and bumping your thread now.

  • Now sold.

  • Did it sell for £1500? lol

  • Yep, I ignored Sig_Arlecchino's opinion and sold it for asking price to a nice guy in the US.

  • Lol, good for you bro! It was a nice bike anyways. Actually, a beautiful bike!! Did you get yourself another Italian steel bike after?

  • It's an opinion shared by almost all the member of this forum. So try remember it next time before selling here again. Price hikes are ok as long as they are justified.

  • btw, if it's sold, just close the thread and mark it as sold.

  • I marked it as sold 5 months ago. It was justified as I bought it underpriced. I didn't strong-arm anyone into buying, I just offered it for sale. It is your prerogative not to buy. I have sold a good few bikes on here for less than I paid, but don't believe that is a rule?

  • Hopefully everyone's grievances can be resolved by a generous forum donation

  • I donate whenever I sell something on LFGSS. I am sure Velocio can confirm I have donated several times in the past.

However I have not sold anything here for a couple of years. Listed - yes, but nothing has sold to you wonderful lot.

  • Hey, if you abuse the spirit of the classifieds on this forum expect to get called on it.

  • So you offered the bike on here but it sold elsewhere? If I didn't know any better, I'd say you cross-posted the advert (which is forbidden) and now you brag with the fact that you sold it elsewhere for a profit while it was still listed on here. Spirit fail >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Get a grip.

I posted elsewhere after it was clear selling on here would be an impossibility.

I was asked a question and responded in the affirmative - not much of a brag.

Knickers in a twist fail >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • I understand that the way we're trying to convey the spirit of the forum is not ideal and that leads to failure.
You might well be aware of it and honestly thought you weren't breaking it.

The idea is that one usually sells on here for a fair (not market) price. Usually it's the price you got it for minus whatever you think has been detrimental to the object value plus whatever you think has added value.
It seems it is common to think that getting something undervalued and re-selling at current value, is not one of these fair methods of selling on here.

That seems to be what you have done and are being called on.
You agree, fine, you don't agree, fine, but do be reminded that people always get called on when this happens. It has happened in the past, it will happen again.

Also, this very thread CAN be closed, by you. And when I said 'marked as sold', I meant marked as SOLD on the title, so that people don't waste time opening it.

Hope this clarifies, and I guess an apology for the mean conveying of the message is due from us. Hopefully followed by some honest feedback.
